The Online and Blended Learning graduate certificate provides the skills people need to teach effectively online, whether they are teaching an entire course online or integrating web-based activities into a traditionally taught class. Students examine recommendations from research, design their own online modules and develop effective strategies for delivering instruction online.

性福五月天 University鈥檚 Undergraduate Certificate in Online and Blended Learning provides targeted education in online and blended learning studies. This program offers career benefits for students looking to specialize in online and blended learning.

The certificate is awarded for taking three courses, listed below under Coursework (9 credit hours altogether). The courses can be taken in any order (no prerequisites) and can be combined with the general master鈥檚 degree in Educational Technology.

Admission requirements include:

  • a well-written statement of the student's reasons for wanting the certificate, and
  • an undergraduate GPA preferably of at least 3.0 (although lower GPAs may be acceptable, with accompanying supporting statements).

This certificate program is not endorsed by the state of Ohio, nor does it confer any official state licensure. It is a federally approved certificate program sponsored by the university.

Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Develop online and blended learning modules that align course objectives, learning activities and assessments using evidence-based instructional design frameworks.
  2. Select and implement appropriate online platforms, multimedia resources and interactive tools to support learner engagement and collaboration.
  3. Create and apply assessments that accurately measure student learning outcomes in online and blended contexts, including formative and summative methods.
  4. Employ strategies for effective online teaching, including active learning techniques, learner interaction facilitation and feedback delivery.
  5. Critically assess the quality, accessibility and inclusivity of online instructional materials and activities using established evaluation rubrics.
  6. Ensure online instructional materials comply with accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG, ADA) and promote equitable participation for diverse learners.
  7. Use data from learning management systems and online activities to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies.

Admission Requirements

Applications to the Online and Blended Learning graduate certificate are not being accepted at this time.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 2.750 undergraduate GPA on a 4.000-point scale
  • Official transcript(s)
  • Goal statement of personal and professional objectives
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • English language proficiency - all international students must provide proof of English language proficiency (unless they meet specific exceptions to waive) by earning one of the following:1
    • Minimum 79 TOEFL iBT score
    • Minimum 6.5 IELTS score
    • Minimum 58 PTE score
    • Minimum 110 DET score
