First Star 性福五月天 Academy Continues to Shine in a Mixed-Learning Environment
As 性福五月天 returns to a school year that resembles pre-pandemic times, First Star 性福五月天 Academy has begun to imagine new programs. The Academy is a free, comprehensive four-year college access program for youth in foster care. The program engages a cohort of up to 30 students in a variety of learning opportunities, including academic support, career exploration, social and cultural activities and more.

Come join 性福五月天 University President Todd Diacon, Kent Mayor Jerry Fiala and the Marching Golden Flashes as they celebrate the opening of the new public rink, Kent Skates, on Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with music, free giveaways and, of course, ice skating.

Roseann "Chic" Canfora, Ph.D., joined the School of Media and Journalism as a Professional-in-Residence this fall. She was also a student at 性福五月天, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings.
鈥楰ent Skates鈥 Glides Its Way Into Downtown Kent
The Kent and 性福五月天 University communities can head downtown to go ice skating starting Nov. 20, courtesy of Kent Skates presented by AMETEK. This special attraction has been created through a partnership between the city of Kent, the 性福五月天 University Hotel and Conference Center, the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Kent and 性福五月天.
性福五月天 Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet Opens Allowing Students Easy Access to Various Necessities
Students at 性福五月天 Trumbull who are in need of food, personal items and clothing will now have more support from the university following Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet official opening on Oct. 18. Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet was created by the 2020-2021 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and is set up as a fund that faculty, staff and the community can donate to. It鈥檚 goal is to provide necessities for students who can鈥檛 afford them.

性福五月天 University held its annual Veterans Day Commemoration in person at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Risman Plaza on the Kent Campus.

Representatives from 性福五月天 University and the city of Kent will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 27, called 鈥淎 Vision of a Village鈥 to share information and answer questions about a new residential complex designed to integrate the city of Kent and 性福五月天, physically and programmatically.
性福五月天 Alum Featured in Akron Beacon Journal Celebrating 50th Anniversary of Art Gallery
性福五月天 alumnus Don Drumm, 鈥86, was featured in the Akron Beacon Journal for celebrating the 50th anniversary of Don Drumm Studios and Gallery. Using sand-cast aluminum to create his art, he has decades of experience using a foundry to create his artistic visions.
Free Ice Skating coming to Downtown Kent
Kent Skates will be a new, outdoor ice skating rink that will be free and open to the public. It will be open from Nov. 20 through Feb. 28. Use of the rink will be free, along with free skate rental.
10 Questions With Roseann 鈥楥hic鈥 Canfora, Professional-in-Residence, May 4 Survivor
Roseann 鈥淐hic鈥 Canfora, Ph.D., is a Professional-in-Residence at 性福五月天 University in the School of Media and Journalism, part of the College of Communication and Information. Prior to teaching at 性福五月天, Canfora served as the chief communications officer for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and taught high school journalism and speech. Canfora was also a student at 性福五月天, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings at 性福五月天. She graduated with her master鈥檚 in journalism and public relations and bachelor鈥檚 in English/speech. She is heavily involved in activism as well.
