I AM FIRST Week of Celebration

Throughout I AM FIRST week of celebration, a number of programs will celebrate students who will be the first in their family to earn a bachelor's degree. In addition to recognizing first-generation students, staff, faculty, and advocates are also celebrated for their accomplishments and support of the First-generation student journey. During the I AM FIRST award's ceremony, participants sign the I AM FIRST promise banner and hear First-generation student testimonials.

First-Gen Data Party

Description: The program is designed to expand engagement and awareness among student support professionals by strengthening their confidence and comfort in using institutional data tools, including the PDP and Institutional Research resources. Through the intentional use of institutional data and first-generation student voices, participants will identify and develop strategies to address equity gaps in academic performance, career readiness, and student success.

Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: Career Prep for First-Gen Business Students

Description: Not sure where to start with your career journey? Join us for Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: Career Prep for First-Gen Business Students, an empowering, interactive workshop that will help you explore career options, create a career development plan, understand what employers want, and start building your network. Plus, you’ll connect with first-gen upperclassmen, alumni, and employers who’ve been in your shoes and can help you navigate your next steps.

Description: Join us as we honor and celebrate first-generation students, staff, faculty, and advocates for their accomplishments and support of the First-generation student journey. During the celebration, participants can read the I AM FIRST promise, hear from a first-generation student panel and more!
