Celebrating 100 Years of The ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌìr
For the last century, student voices have shaped storytelling at ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌì. The journey began in February 1926 with Searchlight, the university’s first student newspaper. Just a few months later, on July 29, 1926, The ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌìr published its official debut issue under the leadership of its first editor-in-chief, Peg Hayes.
Ever since that summer day, The ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌìr has stood as an independent, fully student-run newsroom, serving as a training ground for generations of fearless journalists, talented designers, visionaries in photography and influential media leaders. As we celebrate 100 years of headlines and history during Homecoming 2026, we honor the legacy of student journalism that has documented every milestone, memory and moment of our Golden Flash community.
