Know the locations of emergency showers, eyewash fountains, first-aid kits, spill kits, and fire alarm pull stations. Know the location of the nearest telephone, and, in an emergency, call 911.
Report all injuries, fires, and accidents to your PI or Laboratory Supervisor, DCHO, and EHS Office (Ext. 2-4347, Email: ehs@kent.edu). All fires must be reported immediately by dialing 911 and notifying the Fire Safety department (Ext. 2-1962, Email: firesafety@kent.edu).

Comply with all warning labels and signs.
If you have a question about a procedure or the hazards of a chemical, ask your PI or Laboratory Supervisor before performing the procedure.
Never work alone in a laboratory or chemical storage area unless appropriate means are available to summon assistance.
Perform only those experiments or procedures that you are authorized to do by the person in charge of the lab.
