CAED Lecture Series: Homeostatic Architecture: Restoring Ecological Balance Through Bio-Inspired Human-Centric Design
- Kent
Join us for our Fall 2026 CAED Lecture Series featuring guest Ji Yoon Bae and Zherui Wang as they present "Homeostatic Architecture: Restoring Ecological Balance Through Bio-Inspired Human-Centric Design."
Ji Yoon Bae is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at 性福五月天 University鈥檚 CAED and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. His research explores 鈥淗omeostatic Architecture,鈥 integrating biology, materials science, and thermodynamics to develop climate-responsive buildings that improve thermal comfort and reduce environmental impact. He holds an MS from Cornell University and an M.Arch from Syracuse University.
Zherui Wang is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at 性福五月天 University specializing in climate-responsive design and cooling strategies for extreme heat. His Ph.D. research at the University of Pennsylvania, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 ARPA-E program, integrates structural design and thermal performance. He co-developed Hydroculus, an award-winning cooling roof prototype exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale. He has taught at several universities and was the 2020鈥21 Reyner Banham Fellow at SUNY Buffalo.
